Nowadays, the number of breast cancer are increasing and with the new technology advancement, it has save many life. In the past, maybe just only one or two options but now with the new technology, the treatment can be more choices and it depends on what kind of cancer for the patients. These options such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and etc which is the additional treatment if compared with past few years.

Why the treatment able to lesser the painful of the patient?

1. Surgery: Normally surgery is the first line against the breast cancer but the decisions is still with the doctor because the doctor will determine what kind of surgery is suitable for the patients. There are different types of surgeries such as Mastectomy and Lumpectomy. Mastectomy is removal of all the breast tissue and Lumpectomy is remove the tumor and some of the tissue surrounding.

2. Radiation therapy: One of the highly effective technology which destroy the cancer cells in breast after the surgery. Although many people fear about radiation but it can reduce the risk of breast cancer recurrence by about 70% and it is easy and the side effects for this is only limited to the treated area.

3. Chemotherapy: It is also known as systemic therapy which means affects the whole body by going through the bloodstream. The purpose of this treatment is to get rid of the cells which maybe will spread to another part of the body. Chemotherapy is effective because the drug will interfere with the rapidly dividing cells.

It is important that the treatment for the patients is different and normally doctor and nurses will keep track for the side effects after the treatment and provide the support to improve the emotional health.

Why Eating Red Meat Increases Breast Cancer By Yanick Bertrand Ph.D.

0 comments Saturday, July 4, 2009

50 years ago, red meat was considered a luxury for the average American, or at least it was considered a special meal; whether it was cooking a roast for Sunday dinner or ordering a large steak at a restaurant. Not today however. Meat consumption has more than doubled in the United States since that time. That fact has caused a great concern in the cancer research community. A new study of more than 200,000 American women aged 50 to 71 have provided the best evidence, showing that our love for red meat has a price on our health and has limited our longevity.

The study published in The Archives of Internal Medicine found that, women who consumed the most red and processed meat were likely to die sooner, especially from one of our two leading killers, heart disease and breast cancer. This was different than those who consumed much smaller amounts of these foods. During the last decade of that study, the researchers kept track of the timing and reasons for each death. The results were staggering. 23,276 women died. Their meat consumption ranged from less than an ounce a day, on average, to a high of four ounces a day, and processed meat consumption ranged from at most, once a week to an average of one and a half ounces a day.

The increase in mortality risk tied to the higher levels of red meat consumption ranged from 20% to 40%. Up to half a million women could be saved just by eating less red and processed meats. It could be you.

Little changes are needed: like lowering the amount of red meat women eat in a week. Here are three tips to to help achieve your goal.
1-Hamburger only once or twice a week instead of every day
2-Small steak once a week instead of every other day
3-Hot dog every month and a half instead of once a week.

If you want to find what you can do and use to substitute for red meat, go to Cancer red meat not a good mix.

Through his many years of research on biological impacts to cancer, Yanick Bertand has discovered that a reaction occurs when we fight cancer with nutritional elements - such as the food that we eat. In his research on the fight against cancer, Yanick has come across critical information that is not known by the general public. It is Yanick's desire to educate the public on how they can help fight cancer.

Fueling the Immune System Could Lead to Better Breast Cancer Outcomes Among African-American Women By Wayne Holloway

0 comments Wednesday, June 24, 2009

According the a recent article published in the Journal of the American College of Surgeons, African-American women do not fare well in breast cancer outcomes. The statistics are grim. One study bore these results:

  • 72.1 percent of African-American woman were diagnose before age 65.
  • 50.3 percent of Caucasian women were diagnose before age 65.
  • 52.4 percent of African-American women had localized disease (not spread beyond breast).
  • 68 percent of Caucasian women had localized disease (not spread beyond breast).
  • Overall five-year survival rate for African-American women is 68.6 percent.
  • Overall five-year survival rate for Caucasian women is 79.4 percent.
Clearly, the numbers speak for themselves.

WHY AFRICAN-AMERICAN WOMEN HAVE SUCH POOR OUTCOMES

If you are a woman, particularly, an African-American woman, coping with this affliction, or, if you know someone who is, you will find the above report disturbing. Rightly so. Yet, the reasons for this disparity are not limited to a single factor There appear to be several. For example:

  • Serious socioeconomic factors such as lifestyle, income and family history, among African American women affects their approach to the disease
  • Insufficient screening guidelines for detecting breast cancer in African-American women
  • African-American women are less likely to have surgery.
  • Lower socioeconomic status typically results in late stage diagnosis

However, this problem is much larger than any one individual can tackle, so, if you are an African-American woman, it is to your advantage know what personal, proactive steps you can take to improve your chances of not getting breast cancer, or, how to improve your chances for survival if you do develop the disease.

HOW ALL WOMEN CAN HAVE BETTER RESULTS

A very simple strategy is "immuno-therapy." What is immunotherapy? Well, the basic idea is, enhancing the way the immune system works, so that the body itself can mount a stronger defense again diseases of any type. This is significant, since cancers often develop due to a compromised immune system.

As a direct result of the research performed by the brilliant researcher and Career Investigation, Dr. Gustavo Bounous, MD, science has uncovered a "master player" in the field of immune health. It is a small molecule called glutathione, produced naturally within every cell of the body.

Dr. Bounous, in conjunction with renown immunologist, Dr. Patricia Kongshavn, PhD, discovered that this critical molecule is essential for the functioning an optimized immune system. In fact, without adequate levels of glutathione, the immune system is compromised; thereby allowing the development of numerous disease states, including cancers. The Physician's Desk Reference (PDR) (your doctors' prescription "Bible")specifically states that cancer is considered a "glutathione deficient state."

In basic terms, here is the bottom line: When glutathione levels are high, the immune response inhibits the development of tumors inside the cell. When glutathione levels are low, you have a much greater chance of getting cancer.

So a key factor centers around keeping glutathione at optimum levels. To do that, the cells need a rich supply of the rate-limiting amino acid, cysteine. Without cysteine, the cells simply cannot manufacture sufficient amounts of glutathione to fuel the immune system adequately.

Further, cysteine along with its other 'partner' amino acids, glycine and glutamate, needs to be able to travel through the digestive system without being destroyed in the gut, so that this powerful "cargo" can be delivered directly into the cell. This was the challenge. How could it be met?

YOU CAN TAKE AN 'ACTION STEP' NOW TO IMPROVE YOUR BREAST CANCER OUTCOME

Drs. Bounous and Kongshavn discovered a proprietary undenatured whey protein isolate that could successfully deliver the needed amino acids directly into the individual cells for the proper production of glutathione. As a result, higher glutathione levels equals a stronger, more responsive immune system.

To date, there is only one all-natural undenatured whey protein supplement that has been clinically proven to do this safely and consistently, and that is highly respected in the scientific and medical communites.

Interestingly, one of the seventy (70) method-of-use patents held by this unique whey protein is as an "Anti-Cancer Therapeutic Compositions Containing Whey Protein Concentrate." This means that this protein is proven to raise glutathione, which can function as an anti-cancer agent.

You owe to yourself and your family to learn more about the benefits of this ground-breaking technology.

Wayne Holloway is a Wellness Consultant and husband of a nine-year breast cancer survivor. As a result of his wife's cancer outcome, he now specializes in sharing information with others about the breakthrough protein technology that has resulted in fueling the immune system to put up a stronger fight against all types of cancer.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women and through the early detection, the survival chance are high and it can avoid to remove the whole breast. We must aware that normally it will happen on women over 50 years old and four in five women are diagnosed with breast cancer with no known risk factors. It is a very dangerous issue which sometimes most of the women are not notice about it.

Early detection is the best defense and also a better chance for successful treatment and surgery. There are 3 ways to detect breast cancer early which is self-awareness and mammography.

1.Self-awareness: Women who chooses to perform breast exams should have a correct technique to performs the clinical examinations. If find out any changes to their breast, they should promptly report to their doctor and not to worry too much because lumps are not necessarily abnormal and most lumps are detected and tested are not cancerous.

2. Mammography: Mammography is the simple, low-close breast x-ray examination. It is one of the ways to detect breast cancer before the lump can feel. It is done by two plastics plate that placed in each of the breast by using a x-ray machine then gently pressed and some of the women will feel discomfort during the compression. It is encourages women over 50 years old do the mammography.

Save your life by screening tools which should be continue for women either over 50 years old or younger in order to maintain a good health condition, prevent the breast cancer and survive from it.

Are You at Risk For Breast Cancer? By Mai Brooks M.D.

Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in American women. Approximately one out of eight women will develop breast tumor in their lifetime. It would be so nice to tell ahead of time which is the unlucky one out of every eight patients. But there is simply no reliable method to accurately predict the future occurrence of breast malignancy in any one individual patient. Everyone must understand that the individual breast cancer risk calculated by mathematical models merely refers to the group of women that the individual patient belongs to.

The consensus opinion in the field of breast cancer research is that there is no known cause for this most common disease, with the exception of the BRCA gene, which accounts for a very small percentage of breast tumor cases. While many risk factors for breast malignancy have been identified, risk does not equal cause. In various population studies, some clinically significant risk factors have been identified, including but not limited to first degree family history, atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH), lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS), and radiation exposure. Other population studies have reported "soft" risk factors, such as obesity, alcohol consumption, tobacco use, sedentary lifestyle, hormone replacement therapy, previous benign breast biopsies, age at first childbirth, and others.

However, on an individual basis, there is no reliable method to predict who will develop breast cancer. Furthermore, there is no way to determine what role, if any, a particular risk factor plays in the development of an individual's breast neoplasm, with the exception of a genetic link (BRCA gene). In an individual woman, identification of specific risk factors is absolutely not the same as identification of any cause or contributing factor to the development of breast malignancy. Therefore, if you should become diagnosed with breast tumor, you should NOT blame yourself.

Sure, you could have eaten more healthily and exercised more, but there was absolutely nothing you could do to guarantee that breast cancer would never happen to you. The only risk factor that rises to the level of a causative role is the BRCA gene, and most certainly you could not have picked your own biological parents.

"It's tough making predictions, especially about the future", a statement attributed to many individuals before me.
